Position Summary:

High Pressure Aluminum Die Cast “expert” to help select and develop suppliers in North America


Requirements:


Role Expectations:

Work closely with new and existing suppliers of High Pressure Aluminum Die Castings in coordination with the global commodity strategy

• Assess suppliers; develop and improve manufacturing processes

• Includes mold flow analysis and tooling optimization

• Minimize porosity and other quality defects

Evaluate prototypes, production test and measurement equipment, and tools at supplier location

Provide on-site support at supplier locations for quality issues and for plant logistics/packaging/delivery issues

Work with Purchasing to optimize tooling costs

Participate on cross-functional APQP teams


Position Responsibilities:

Perform “New Supplier Qualification” and/or Risk Analysis audits for potential new suppliers of High Pressure Aluminum Die Castings

Support High Pressure Aluminum Die Casting supplier launch and APQP activities

Facilitate and evaluate supplier PPAP, Engineering Changes, and Continuous Improvement activities

Perform process (VDA 6.3) and maintenance audits at supplier locations and drive corrective actions as appropriate

Coordinate supplier development initiatives, monitor supplier ratings, and resolve supplier performance issues

Support global commodity team with regional HPDC supplier information

Perform other functions as directed by the NAO Corporate Supplier Quality Manager


Essential Skills and Experience:

College Degree in Engineering or related field

Minimum 10 years in Automotive, including at least 5 years in High Pressure Aluminum Die Casting industry

Specific knowledge and expertise in High Pressure Aluminum Die Casting processes

Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA’s, Control Plans, and SPC

Ability to read and interpret blue prints and methods of GD&T

Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite software

Strong skills in Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis relative to HPDC processes


Up to 30% travel required

Excellent written, communication and organizational skills

Experience in cross-functional team environment

Ability to effectively organize and plan
